The subsidy rate of Rs 1-3/kg at which foodgrains are supplied via ration shops has not been changed in the Budget, he said in a statement.
Transparency has been brought in the the Public Distribution System (PDS) by using IT. Seeding of ration cards with Aadhaar has been done to ensure that the foodgrains reach the right beneficiaries, he said.
The food law, under which highly subsidised foodgrains are provided to 84 crore people, has been implemented successfully throughout the country, he added.
