Union Minister Piyush Goyal Tuesday dubbed the Congress-led government in Puducherry as a non-performing government which has let down people without ensuring development and providing basic amenities.
"The Union Territory has all the resources for development and potential to reach the peak of development.
But the present government here has stopped all developmental programmes and has done nothing for the progress and development of Puducherry," Goyal said.
Addressing a meeting of BJP workers to introduce ally All India (NR) Congress' nominee K Narayanasamy fielded from the sole Lok Sabha seat here, Goyal said the NDA government was committed to developing the Union Territory and to take care of the people here.
"The government here is however a non-performing administration with a non-performing Chief Minister," he said and described the alliance, comprising the BJP, AIADMK, AINRC and PMK, as powerful.
Around four thousand jobs had been surrendered by the present government here depriving the youth of employment opportunities, he claimed.
The Centre had listed the union territory under the 'smart city' scheme involving an investment of Rs 1,850 crore understanding the potential for development in Puducherry, Goyal said.
