Grant visa to UN team: AIADMK to govt

AIADMK today expressed surprise over denial of visa by the Centre to a United Nations team probing human rights violations in Sri Lanka and made a strong plea to grant it visa to enable it to hold a fair and just investigations.
Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour, party leader M Thambidurai said party chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has already written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.
He said several Sri Lankan Tamils were living in India and the visit of the UN team will help in the investigations and in the process of holding the Sri Lankan regime to account for its acts against Tamils.
He said under the NDA rule, the AIADMK was hopeful of a change in India's stance in the matter.
