"The board (of GTDC) has agreed to a proposal for development of jetties for tourism purpose," its Chairman Nilesh Cabral told reporters yesterday after chairing a board meeting here.
He said the Corporation will submit the proposal to state ports department, which would further send it to the Central government.
Cabral said they will approach the Centre through ports department to avail funds of Rs 500 crore under Sagar Mala scheme for the plan.
Keeping in mind the increasing demand forclean and affordableaccommodationfacilitiesfor tourists visiting Goa,the Corporation has also decided to renovatefour of its existing hotels (residencies) in Mapusa, Margao, Vasco andCalangute annex.
