Marketmen said besides covering up of short positions by speculators, pick up in demand and tight supplies in the spot markets supported the rise in guar gum prices at futures trade here.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar gum for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 84, or 1.07 per cent, to Rs 7,941 per quintal, with a business turnover of 17,635 lots.
