Guargum futures surge on domestic, overseas demand

Guargum prices spurted by Rs 180 to Rs 8,600 per quintal in futures trading today after participants enlarged positions, driven by domestic as well as export demand.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, guargum prices for April contracts jumped by Rs 180, or 2.14 per cent, to Rs 8,600 per quintal, in an open interest of 11,582 lots.
May contracts also attracted attention of buyers and climbed by same margins of Rs 180, or 2.10 per cent, to Rs 8,750 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,987 lots.
Traders said rising domestic and export demand mainly led to the rise in guargum prices at futures trade here.
