She was 95 and eldest of all 10 siblings, including Anandi Patel.
After learning about her death in the afternoon, Patel rushed to Visnagar and stayed there till her sister's cremation, sources said, adding that Sarita had asked her family members to not perform any rituals after her death.
She was cremated at Muktidham crematorium in Visnagar.
State Governor Dr Kamla Beniwal expressed grief over the death and offered her condolence.
Following the demise, the state Cabinet meeting which takes place every Wednesday was postponed.
