Gujarat: 43 IPS officers transferred

In a major reshuffle in the higher echelons of the state police, Gujarat government today transferred 43 IPS officers, while promoting some of them.
As per the state Home Department, 14 Inspector General-level and 29 superintendent-level police officers have been transferred, with 11 of them getting promotion.
Superintendent of Sabarmati Central Jail, Ahmedabad, R J Pargi, who came under scanner when some of the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case accused attempted a jail break by digging a tunnel in February this year, has been transferred and appointed as commandant, SRPF, Group-15, ONGC Mehsana.
Amit Vishwakarma, who has been holding the post of DIG, Jails has been transferred and appointed as the head of state Crime Records Bureau and computer center, the post which was lying vacant since the arrest of G L Singhal in Ishrat Jahan encounter killing case of 2004.
Raghavendra Vatsa, District Superintendent of Police, Surendranagar, who had conducted the investigation in RTI activist Amit Jethwa murder case under the High Court orders and given clean chit to BJP MP Dinu Bogha Solanki, has been transferred and appointed as superintendent (Intelligence), Gandhinagar.
DIG (Intelligence-2), Gandhinagar J K Bhatt has been transferred as Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector-1, Ahmedabad city who will also hold the additional charge of DIG (operations), Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) Ahmedabad.
Home Department has also given promotion to D S Bhatt, who is the ADC to Governor of Gujarat, by upgrading his ex-cadre post from Superintendent of Police cadre to Deputy Inspector General of Police cadre.
