Gujarat inks MoUs with China for Smart City, industrial park

The Gujarat Government today signed MoUs with a Chinese enterprise in Beijing envisaging Rs 29,000 crore investments in the state.
The MoUs, inked in Beijing during Chief Minister Anandi Patel's visit to China, related to an investment of Rs 19,000 crore for the Smart City project and another Rs 10,000 crore for setting up an industrial park in Gujarat, an official statement said here.
"An MoU signed between the China Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Ltd (CSMEI) and iNDETXb (Industrial Extension Bureau)- a Gujarat Government entity - envisions USD 3 billion (Rs 19,000 crore) investment for the Smart City project in Gujarat," said the government.
"Gujarat's Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Mines) Arvind Agarwal exchanged MoU documents with Guo Zhixin, Deputy Secretary General, CASME, in presence of Chief Minister Anandi Patel," it said.
Patel, who is on a six-day visit to China, announced that Gujarat has also inked a pact with CSMEI to set up a Rs 10,000 crore industrial park in the state.
She was part of the delegation that accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tour of the neighbouring country.
"Dong Jun, Chairman of Guangdong Richwood Group, and the Chief Minister discussed possibilities for viable projects in hospitality and tourism infrastructure in Gandhinagar, transport infrastructure in Surat and logistics parks near Kandla Port and Dahej Investment Region," it said.
Another MoU was concluded between iNDEXTb and Sinofinn Group as part of Gujarat Government's cleanliness and green energy drives. The agreement related to setting up bio-waste based power projects, said the statement.
Gujarat-based cement company Sanghi Industries inked a pact with a Chinese firm for a project on generating power from cement plant waste," it added.
