Demonetisation has not affected Gujarat's economy and the government is making every efforts to create awareness about digital transactions, revenue minister of the state Bhupendra Chudasama said.
"Whether politically on economically, Gujarat has not suffered due to demonetisation. In the recent 125 by-elections, BJP has won 109 of them. This shows the people of the state realised the good effects of this drive", he told reporters on a 'Vibrant Gujarat 2017' roadshow here today.
Saying that it is a good step taken by the prime minister, he pointed out that the government was educating every section of society from student and farmers on how to carry out digital transactions.
"There is no problem at all," the minister said.
On being asked if the Centre had sent any letter to any of the state government offices seeking information about revenue collection of a particular department, he said 'no'.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the urban development ministry had sought comparative revenue collection statement from Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) for November 2015 and November 2016.
To this, minister of state for industries, minerals and finance Rohit Patel said, "There must be some reason why the Centre has asked for this information".
Talking about investments, he said that the translation rate from MoUs to actual investments taking place on the ground was 65.8 per cent in Gujarat, highest in the country.
He said a big land bank was also available with Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
