The newspaper Buen Tono published a story yesterday on its website saying reporter Octavio Rojas was shot to death in the town of Cosolapa, where he lived.
Relatives told the newspaper Rojas was shot by a man who entered his home asking to see a car the 35-year-old reporter was selling.
The newspaper is based in the city of Cordoba in Veracruz state. It says Rojas covered police stories and the area along the Veracruz-Oaxaca state line. Rojas was also the spokesman for Cosolapa's city council.
