Gur prices climb on paucity of stocks, brisk buying

Gur (jaggery) prices firmed up by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following heavy buying by stockist and retailers amid negligible arrivals from manufacturing belts, powered by notable gains in sugar prices.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a rise of Rs 100 per quintal on paucity of stocks.
Marketmen said stockist and retailers were started to raise stocks of gur due to paucity of stocks amid restricted supplies from manufacturing belts.
Besides, handsome gains in sugar prices also helped to boost trading sentiments, they quoted.
In Delhi, gur Pedi prices spurted by Rs 200 to end the day at Rs 2,800-2,900, followed by gur Chakku, Dhayya and Shakkar prices gained by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 2,800-2,900, Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Raskat prices hardened by Rs 100 to Rs 2,200-2,250 per quintal on heavy buying by beer makers.

Gur Chakku also advanced by Rs 75 to Rs 2,475-2,650 per quintal.
Coming to Muradnagar, gur Pedi and Dhayya prices finished higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,350-2,450 and Rs 2,400-2,500 per quintal.

Gur chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,200-2,250, chakku Rs 2,475- 2,650, khurpa Rs 2,200-2,300 and Ladoo Rs 2,400- 2,500.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,350-2,450 and dhayya Rs 2,400-2,500.
