Gur (Jaggery) prices spurted by up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following paucity of stocks due to negligible arrivals amid speculative buying.

Muradnagar gur markets also climbed by Rs 200 per quintal on tight stocks positions due to halt in supplies.

Marketmen said insufficient ready stocks due to pause in supplies from manufacturing belts because of adverse weather conditions, powered by speculative buying by stockist and retailers, mainly brought the up move in gur prices at Delhi and Muradnagar gur markets.

In Delhi, gur Chakku and Shakkar prices shot up by Rs 200 each to end the day at Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.

Gur Pedi and Dhayya prices also hardened by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 2,700-2,800 and Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur Pedi and Dhayya prices jumped up by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 2,400-2,600 and Rs 2,600-2,700 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
