Gur prices firm up on better offtake, paucity of stocks

Gur prices strengthened by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today on tight position of stocks amid increased buying by stockists and retailers.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also settled higher on fresh buying support.
Paucity of stocks and heavy buying by stockists and retailers, marketmen said, mainly pushed up gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Dhayya hardened by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur Laddoo prices went up by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 2,900-2,950 while gur Khurpa rose Rs 50 to Rs 2,650-2,700 per quintal.
Coming to Muradnagar, gur pedi prices traded higher by Rs 50 to conclude at Rs 2,700-2,800 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,200-3,300 and shakkar Rs 3,300-3,400.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,450, chakku Rs 2,600- 2,850, khurpa Rs 2,650-2,700 and Ladoo Rs 2,900-2,950.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,700-2800 and dhayya Rs 2,800-2,850.
