Gur (jaggery) prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following paucity of stocks amid strong demand.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also ruled strong on brisk buying thin arrivals.
Market players said negligible arrivals from manufactring areas coupled with heavy buying by stockists and retailers, mainly led to the rise in gur prices.
Higher advices from neighbouring states too enthused trading sentiments, they said.

At Muradnagar, gur Pedi and dhayya enquired higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,550-2,650 and Rs 2,650-2,700 per quintal.
