Amateur Gurbani Singh brought home a card of two-over 74 today in extremely difficult conditions to retain her lead after the second round of the ninth leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour.
Kapurthala's Gursimar Badwal carded three-under 69 to jump into second position, one shot clear of Delhi youngster Vani Kapoor in third place. The second round of the INR 7,00,000 event at the Royal Springs Golf Course was postponed due to heavy rainfall yesterday.
Gurbani played a cautious round in tough conditions, carding a birdie on the 11th hole along with three bogies on the 6th, 10th and 14th holes to take her total score to 142 after 36 holes. Her effort of four under 68 in the first round ensured her a two shot lead going into the final round.
Gursimar Badwal played sensational golf and carded three-under 69, the lowest score of round two. Her blemish-free round included three birdies on the 2nd, 11th and 15th holes, helping her to finish with a score 144 after the second round.
Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor too made a strong comeback to take the third place with a total score 145. She played a bogey free front nine, carding two birdies on the 3rd and 7th hole. She added another on the 10th hole in her back nine but a bogey on the 18th hole meant she had to settle for a score of two-under 70 in the second round.
Panchkula golfer Amandeep Drall and Delhi's Gauri Monga could not sustain their first round momentum and are placed fourth and fifth respectively after carding 77 and 76 respectively.
Kolkata's Neha Tripathi is placed sixth with a total score of 149 after 36 holes.
