GVK Power shares tank over 9 pc as Q4 loss widens

Shares of GVK Power today fell sharply by over 9 per cent after the company reported widening of consolidated net loss to Rs 407.70 crore for the March quarter.
The scrip tumbled 9.29 per cent to settle at Rs 5.47 on BSE. Intra-day, it tanked 9.95 per cent to Rs 5.43 -- its 52- week low.
On NSE, shares of the company slipped 9.16 per cent to close at Rs 5.45.
On the volume front, 10.66 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 72 lakh shares changed hands on NSE during the day.
GVK Power and Infrastructure on Friday reported widening of consolidated net loss to Rs 407.70 crore for the March quarter.
The company had posted a net loss of Rs 108.66 crore in the January-March period of 2014-15 fiscal, GVK Power & Infrastructure had said in a BSE filing.
However, net sales increased to Rs 1,081.16 crore in the same quarter of 2015-16 fiscal as against Rs 846.30 crore in the year-ago period.
Total expenses rose to Rs 969.37 crore compared with Rs 634.22 crore in the same period a year ago, it said.
