Habibaganj station will be re-developed with private participation and the development agreement with selected developer will be signed tomorrow, said a senior Railway Ministry official.
Habibagnj station is the first station in the country to be developed in PPP model, he said
Railways will re-develop about 400 major stations across the country with private participation and it has formed Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) to carry out the job.
As per plan, the station will have shopping complex, adequate parking lot, eateries, forex kiosk and other facilities for passengers at railway premises.
IRSDC has been constituted under the Companies Act, 1956 as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to develop Railway Stations across India with the primary objective of augmenting and improving passenger related amenities at stations in a holistic manner.
