The Haryana Statute Review Committee has recommended repealing of 56 acts of the state which are no longer relevant in the present times.
In addition, the Committee has also recommended amendments in the Haryana Lokayukat Act, 2000; The Haryana Right to Service Act, 2014; The Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994; The Haryana Urban Development Authority Act, 1977; The Punjab Village Common Land (Regulation) Act, 1961 and the Haryana Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1961.
The report of the committee was presented to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar by its Chairman, Justice (retd) Iqbal here today.
The committee was constituted by the state government on July 24, 2015 to identify laws which are no longer needed or relevant and can be immediately repealed.
It was also to identify laws which are not in harmony with the existing climate of economic liberalisation and need change, to identify laws which otherwise require changes or amendments and to make suggestions for their amendment, a government release said here.
The committee was to consider the suggestions for revision or amendment in laws given by expert groups, if any, constituted in various departments with a view to coordinating and harmonising them.
Apart from this, the committee was to consider references made to it by ministries or departments in respect of legislation having bearing on the working of more than one department and to revise the state acts of general importance so as to simplify them and to remove any anomalies, ambiguities and inequities.
The committee has also identified several other important acts which need review, for which the views of the concerned departments and general public or stakeholders are being invited for the purpose, the release added.
