The 27-year-old dancer and Lopez called it quits this past June after two and a half years of dating, reported Us magazine.
"It's hard being looked at like, 'You only had that job because you were the boyfriend'. Before Jennifer, I did a lot of stuff with other big artists (too)," he said.
Smart, who recently worked with songstress Ariana Grande for her upcoming music video for 'Love Me Harder', says he is still friends with Lopez.
"(Jennifer and I are) great friends. I love her and the kids and they're incredible.
