Collins Learning India has a new managing director with Chaitali Moitra appointed to the role to replace Krishna Naroor.

Moitra joins from Macmillan, where she held the position of Vice President of Sales, and will now also join the HarperCollins India Board.

Collins India is involved in the Indian schools publishing market. The division launched its first publications to the market in late 2013, and has since is engaged in textbook publishing for classes I to VIII, serving both the CBSE and ICSE curricula in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Computer Science, as well as General Knowledge, Values and Environment education.

Ananth Padmanabhan, CEO HarperCollins India, says, "Our Collins business is arguably the fastest growing education business in India, moving into the scale-up phase from its start-up beginning. Building on this very strong base and with Chaitali's experience and knowledge, we are confident that we will deliver our ambitious growth plans."

London-based MD of Collins Learning Colin Hughes says "Our strategy for building a strong presence in the Indian schools publishing market is paying strong dividends. It's a development to which the global HarperCollins business is powerfully committed, and we are delighted that Chaitali will be joining us to take responsibility for leading Collins India up to the next level."

According to Moitra, Collins Learning is scaling up increasingly and she's excited over the opportunity to be part of the organisation at this stage.

"I look forward to using my varied industry experience further to enhance that growth," she says.
