Haryana government today said it has exempted auto-rickshaw owners from paying penalty on outstanding road tax.
The auto-rickshaw owners could now pay arrears of road tax without any penalty by February 28. The decision has been taken as a one-time measure, a spokesman of the Transport Department said today.
The tax on transport vehicles has to be paid on quarterly basis.
The spokesman said that the decision has been taken keeping in view that the auto-rickshaws were used for carrying passengers for intra-city operations and these auto-rickshaws were generally owned by poor people for earning their livelihood.
