Haryana formulates plans to conserve blackbucks

Haryana government has chalked out a conservation plan to protect blackbucks and other animals in Badopal village of Fatehabad district, a government spokesperson said here today.
The step was taken after wild animals including blackbucks were killed while Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) started fencing work of the 187 acres of land acquired by them for residential colonies, he said.
In order to save the animals, NPCIL immediately removed the fencing, the spokesperson said adding, a team from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun visited the area after the state Forest and Wildlife Department wrote to Central Forest and Wild Life Department about the situation and conservation of animals in the area.
The team also visited Gorakhpur, Badopal and nearby areas to gather information, he added.
