Haryana would soon get its first National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) wherein youth will be acquainted with new technology and to enhance their employability.
Besides, free technical education would be imparted to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, in the centre, an official spokesman said here.
He said that the centre would be established by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in the building of Government Polytechnic College at village Umri, district Kurukshetra, for three years.
The full campus of the institute would be established if the project proves successful, he said.
The land for the project would be provided by the State Government, whereas the Central Government would bear the cost of the project.
The technical education would be imparted to youth through more than 15 short-term courses.
He said that basic skill development courses of duration four weeks, six months and one year would be provided in the Centre, wherein youth would be acquainted with new technology.
There are 35 such centres functioning across the country, he informed.
