Jai Bhagwan, who was absconding, was arrested yesterday, SP (Crime) Rakesh Jolly said.
He was absconding after a case of alleged unauthorised possession of 700 bigha of government land of Hastinapur sanctuary worth crores of rupees was unearthed by the police.
The police had registered more than 17 cases of cheating, damaging property of the government and under the Forest Act against 17 persons, including Jai Bhagwan in this regard, he said.
Bank accounts of Jai Bhagwan worth several crores were also seized.
