Parambrata Chatterjee made his Bollywood debut with Vidya Balan-starrer "Kahaani", but the Bengali actor-director says he will never shift base to Mumbai as he wants to continue working in his region's cinema.
The 35-year-old actor has also starred in a few more forgettable Hindi films like Satish Kaushik's "Gang of Ghosts" and the latest "Yara Sillly Silly" alongside another Bengali actress Paoli Dam.
"I proudly represent Bengali cinema. I have done a couple of Hindi films but I have no plans to shift base to anywhere. I think regional cinema needs an impetus and it is our responsibility.
"It is important for us to identify market and make our films reach those markets. Sadly, Bengali's are not good businessman but we hope we can resolve that soon," Parambrata said on the sidelines of IFFI.
The actor's resume boasts of films like "Bombaiyer Bombete", "The Bong Connection", Rituparno Ghosh's "Dosar", "Baishe Srabon", "Hemlock Society" and Kaushik Ganguli's "Apur Panchali".
He has also directed three movies - "Jiyo Kaka", "Hawa Bodol" and "Lorai: Play to Live".
Parambrata feels there has been a sea change in the quality of Bengali films that are being made currently.
"There has been a sea change in the Bengali film industry in that last 8 to 9 years. Before that, only potboilers were being made and the middle-class stopped going to the cinemas. But from 2004 onwards things started changing. Good films were being made again and the middle class is back to the theatres.
