Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said he had not received any letter from forest minister K B Ganesh Kumar's wife over his alleged extra marital affair.
Speaking to reporters here, Chandy reiterated he had not received any such letter.
"If the media and CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan say his wife had submitted such a letter, how can I agree with it?" he asked.
To another query on government Chief whip P C George's reported statement that Kumar's wife had handed over the letter to him, he said "I do not think George will say that".
Vijayan had demanded an explanation from Chandy yesterday at Kannur on the status of the complaint and alleged that the the UDF government, instead of acting on it, were not taking a firm stand due to Frong's numerical position in the assembly.
Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan had also asked Thiruvananthapuram yesterday had asked Chandy to respond to George's statement.
The Congress-led UDF had yesterday decided not to immediately press for Kumar's resignation over the issue as it is not a political issue but a personal one and had authorised Chandy to take a final decision on the matter.
Actor-politician Kumar is the lone cabinet nominee of Kerala Congress-B headed by his father and veteran politician R Balakrishna Pillai. Pillai and Kumar have been at loggerheads for long.
It was George who first levelled the charge against Kumar in public on March 3, seizing on a newspaper report which said a minister was beaten up by the husband of a woman with whom he had an affair.
