Jharkhand High Court today allowed Congress MLA Sawna Lakra, who is undergoing life imprisonment in a murder case, to attend the state assembly tomorrow when the JMM-led government will face the trust vote.
The division bench of Justices N N Tiwari and Apresh Kumar Singh granted permission to the convicted legislator after he moved a petition in this regard.
The Ranchi District and Sessions court had on May 13 convicted Lakra and three others for killing a youth who was allegedly in love with Lakra's niece.
Lakra moved the high court seeking permission to attend the assembly in the wake of the JMM/Cong/RJD-led government moving a vote of confidence.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren and two others were sworn in on July 13 after the JMM staked claim to form government on July 9.
