The first bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana, gave the direction on a PIL filed by one Vincent alleging certain unnamed police officials were involved in the case.
"We have perused the status report and returned the same to the Government Pleader. The Government Pleader on instructions states that the final report is expected to be filed within a period of two months from today. The monetary compensation under the victim's assistance fund already stands paid", the bench said and instructed the Government Pleader to file the final status report in a sealed cover.
In his petition, Vincent said "a cursory perusal of the FIR itself proves that the police officials did not register her complaint as preferred by the victim but tailored it suitable to their dubious intentions."
When the matter came up seeking a CBI investigation on October 5, the petitioner had alleged that the deposition of the victim before the Judicial Magistrate includes one gruesome episode of her being trafficked to a five star hotel in Madurai by subordinate police officials, where she was drugged and exploited in an unconscious state, only to wake up later and found herself gang raped.
He submitted that very senior and influential police officers, including IPS officers, have been involved in this case and sought a CBI investigation in the case.
The Government Pleader S T S Murthy sought two months time to file a final report and the court adjourned the case for further hearing to January 21, 2016.
