: Madras High Court today declined to entertain a petition seeking registration of a case against a Police Officer who was transferred from the Court on the charges of his conversation with a woman constable, which was recorded in Whatts app.
About 10 days after the recorded conversation surfaced, a petition seeking registration of a criminal case against him was filed in Madras High Court by one T Dayalan.
Justice R S Ramanathan before whom the petition came up for hearing, dismissed the plea, saying allegations levelled in the complaint do not make out any criminal offence.
The petitioner contended that the Aassistant Commissioner concerned had failed in his legal and moral duty to protect the public and violated basic ethics of police force. He misbehaved with a subordinate police personnel while on duty, he said, adding it also amounts to harassment of working women.
Noting that his complaint to the Commissioner of Police on March 16 had not been taken note of nor any action taken, he sought a direction from the court to issue a suitable direction to police to register an FIR against the officer and probe the issue.
