HC direction on PIL for CBI probe into building collapse

The Madras High Court today directedauthorities to reply within 10 days on a PIL seeking CBI probe into the recent collapse of a under construction multi-storeyed building here in which 61 people died.
The First Bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice M M Sundresh, before which a petition filed by K R Ramaswamy came up for hearing directed authorities concerned and posted the matter for further hearing on July 23.
The petitioner highlighted violations of building norms and alleged it is because of corrupt officials and powerful politicians such violations are taking place.
He prayed for a direction from the court for an inquiry by CBI into the Moulivakkam incident of June 28.
