"Unfortunately, we are not teaching civic sense to the citizens...," the Delhi High Court today remarked while hearing a petition against excessive honking and noise pollution so caused.
A bench of Chief Justice N V Ramana made the remark while dismissing the petition which had sought that law be made making it mandatory for vehicles to put a sticker "do not honk" at the rear.
The bench said "unfortunately, we are not teaching civic sense to the citizens. This is the problem with this country."
It, however, dismissed the petition while also telling the petitioner, advocate Vishnu Langawat, "so suppose a sticker is put on the vehicle, people will not honk?"
The petition had also sought directions to the government to strctly enforce the provisions concerning the Motor Vehicle Act and laws against noise pollution.
