The Madras High Court today dropped a contempt proceeding against some Union Health Ministry officials for their failure to comply with its order to fix by December 31, 2017 the location for an upcoming AIIMS in the state.
A Madurai bench of the high court dropped the proceeding after a Central government counsel informed the court that the Centre has already notified the state government about its decision to set up AIIMS at Thoppur near here.
The bench of justices C T Selvam and A M Basheer Ahamed was hearing a plea by one K K Ramesh for initiating contempt proceeding against the Union Health Ministry officials.
