Justices A Selvam and V S Ravi gave the order on a petition filed by Yasmin, wife of Raja Raja Hussain, who is facing various criminal cases including murder, that her husband was kept under solitary confinement in Cuddalore Central jail despite having suffered heart attack twice.
The report should be submitted on March 15, the judges said.
The order was passed after A Kumaresan, Additional Superintendent of Prison, filed a counter affidavit denying the allegation of having isolated the petitioner's husband in a separate cell.
"No body was kept in solitary confinement in the prison while people had been allowed to even meet Raja Hussain," the official submitted in his affidavit.
