HC proposes setting up of high level panel

Kerala High Court today proposed constitution of a high level committee to suggest improvements in the functioning of the outlets of the State Beverages Corporation.
Justice Alexander P Thomas of the HC suggested that the committee be headed by former Justice C N Ramachandran Nair and former Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose.
The court directed the Corporation to inform its views in this regard.
Justice Thomas made it clear that the Corporation will have to meet the expenses of the committee.
The order was issued on a petition filed by Beverages Corporation seeking to permit functioning of their retail outlet at Sasthamkotta in Kollam.

The court had earlier observed that customers were being treated like "cattle" and better facilities were not being provided to them.
