A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Dilip Gupta passed the order on the writ petition of Raghubir Chand Jindal, a resident of Sonebhadra district of which Robertsganj is a part.
The petitioner had contended that although the EC has taken a decision to reserve Mirzapur Lok Sabha seat on the basis of the 2001 census report wherein the SC population there was stated to be 25.8 per cent, it has not applied the same yardstick to de-reserve Robertsganj even though its Dalit population was recorded at 24.28 per cent.
