A bench of justices N Kirubakaran and V Parthiban vacated its interim stay imposed on May 6.
The bench had stayed the construction on a plea by two local residents, who had alleged encroachment of a road in T Nagar locality by the Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust and the South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) for constructing the building to house multiplex theatres.
On the residents' plea, the court had appointed earlier an advocate-commissioner to examine with assistance from the government authorities if the proposed building of 'Nadigar Sangam' was to encroach the road.
The petitioners had alleged that the 'Sangam' had blocked a road used by residents of the locality for building a commercial complex for the association.
The foundation for the building was laid last April with a number of stars, including top actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan attending the event.
