HDFC shares lost 2.11 per cent to close at Rs 1,201.80 on the BSE. During the day, it had slipped 2.91 per cent to Rs 1,192.
At the NSE, the scrip fell by 2.2 per cent to settle at Rs 1,201.15.
HDFC Ltd reported a 9.6 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 2,646.35 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2015.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,414.70 crore in the January-March quarter of the previous fiscal.
On standalone basis, the housing finance company's net profit rose by 8.06 per cent to Rs 1,862.43 crore as compared to Rs 1,723.10 crore for the fourth quarter ended March, 2014.
The board has proposed a final dividend of Rs 13 per equity share of face value of Rs 2 each for the financial year 2014-15.
In the stock market, the BSE benchmark Sensex ended at 27,225.93, down 170.45 points.
