At least eight places recorded their respective maximums above 40 degrees mark. Bolangir was the hottest place in the state at 43.2 degrees, the MeT office said.
Bhawani Patna sizzled at 43, Titlagarh at 42.5, Jharsuguda at 41.6, Sambalpur and Sundergarh at 41 and Angul at 40.6 degrees.
High humidity troubled residents in the coastal belt of the state. Bhubaneswar recorded the maximum at 38.8 degrees and relative humidity at 95 per cent, IMD officials said.
