The 23-year-old actor, who plays Jonathan Byers on the hit Netflix series, was reportedly denied entry into the US by airport officials after traces of cocaine were discovered in his luggage.
"My planned travel to the US last week was affected by an issue at US immigration and I am working to rectify it as soon as possible," Heaton said in a statement to People magazine.
Dismissing reports, the actor also claimed that he was not arrested for the alleged offence.
"I do want to clarify that I was not arrested or charged with a crime, and cooperated fully with the US officials at LAX.
"Stranger Things 2" also featuring Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, among others premiered on October 27.
