Heatwave to continue in West Bengal, Bankura hottest: MeT dept

Kolkata recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal

Bankura district in West Bengal touched 43.8 degrees Celsius temperature while Kolkata recorded an above normal 40.2 degrees Celsius, even as the MeT department forecast heatwave to continue for at least another four days.

Bankura recorded the highest day temperature in the region at 43.8 degrees Celsius with the weatherman forecasting more severe weather conditions here at above 45 degrees Celsius for the next few days.

Kolkata recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, they said.

In districts of Gangetic West Bengal, the mercury hovered slightly above the 40 degrees Celsius mark, they said.

MeT officials have forecast heatwave conditions over Bankura, Birbhum, West Midnapur, Purulia and Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

Burdwan, Asansol and Sriniketan recorded 41.5, 41.6 and 41.7 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Sunday.
