Heavy rainfall in parts of Bengal from tomorrow: RMC

Heavy rainfall may lash parts of West Bengal from tomorrow for three days under the impact the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Hudhud', according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) here.
"Rain have already started in the coastal areas of West Bengal yesterday and it will intensify from tomorrow. There will be heavy rain in North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore districts of the Gangetic West Bengal (GWB) from tomorrow," an RMC official said today.
From tomorrow there would be rain or thundershowers in most places in Odisha, GWB and Andaman and Nicobar Islands in some places in Jharkhand and at isolated places over the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal (SHWB), Sikkim and Bihar, he said.

"Post October 14, Hudhud will loose its strength and start dying. But there is a probability of moderate to heavy rainfalls in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttarbanga," he said.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal Disaster Management has taken all forms of precautionary measures in the coastal regions as well as in the gangetic region.
Indevar Pandey, Secretary to the departments of West Bengal Disaster Management said, "an alert has already been issued in the coastal districts. The miking has been done in and around the areas. Line departments, control rooms have been opened for 24 hours at the district magistrate's offices, SDO and BDO's offices,"

"Tourists in Digha, Mandarmoni, Bakkhali have been advised not to venture outside their hotels. High-speed boats, cyclonic shelters have been readied to deal with any kind of untoward incident," Pandey said.

The fishermen, who went to the sea before October 10, have returned and the fishing community has been asked not to venture into the sea waters for three days from today, he said.
As a precautionary measure, the Eastern Railway today announced that some of its trains running through its system around Vishakapatnam area would be diverted.
The routes of seven trains - Dibrugarh-Bangalore City Jn Express, Kamakhya-Bangalore Cantt. Premium Express, the Secunderabad -Guwahati Express, the Guwahati-Chennai Egmore Express, Yesvantpur Jn-Kamakhya Express, the Yesvantpur Jn-Bhagalpur Anga Express and the Chennai Central-Asansol Express - have been diverted, a ER release said.
