Heavy rains affect normal life in Rajasthan

Mercury has plummeted in Rajasthan following heavy rains in many parts of the state since last night, with Rawatsar in Hanumangarh district recording the maximum rainfall.
Following rains and hailstorm, mercury plummeted at most places in the state by one to four degrees Celsius at night, heralding the arrival of winter season, a MeT official said.
Rawatsar recorded the highest rainfall of 3 cm by 8:30 AM, the official said, adding, hailstorm occurred in eastern regions covering Bharatpur, Alwar, Jaipur's Sanganer areas.
Malakher in Alwar and Sangaria in Hanumangarh recorded 2 cm rainfall, Khushalgarh in Banswara 1 cm, followed by Bikaner 7.2 mm, Pilani and Churu 1 mm till 8:30 AM today.

Heavy rains accompanied with hailstorm hit Jaipur and surrounding suburban towns at about 3:30 AM and the capital city recorded about 15 mm of rainfall even as the minimum temperature touched 19.8 degrees Celsius.
Arenpura was the coldest place in the state at 14 degrees Celsius, followed by Sriganganagar at 14.9 degrees Celsius.
Western disturbance and moisture flow from Arabian Sea will continue to cause intermittent rains or squall in many areas of the state in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
