Heavy rains lashed several areas of Himachal Pradesh today, inundating low-lying areas in Kangra and Una districts as the monsoon remained active in the state.
The bodies of a man and woman were recovered from Nathpa Dam of 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri project which was shut down for a few hours for flushing out silt.
The gushing rain waters entered some houses in Nurpur area of Kangra district and lower areas of Una and services of fire brigade were requisitioned to drain out the water.
The remote village of Samah in Paonta Sahib was reportedly sinking due to massive landslides and about 30 to 35 families residing in the villages are being shifted to safer places, official Sources said.
The sky remained heavily overcast and foggy conditions prevailed in Shimla town which received 155 mm of rains.
The rains marginally dropped the maximum day temperatures and Una recorded a high of 30.8 degree against 33.8 degree yesterday.
The minimum temperatures remained steady and there was no significant change.
The local MeT office has predicted heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places during next 48 hours and rains and thundershowers at many places in the rest of the state over the next five days.
