Heavy rains lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh bringing slight relief to the people.
Jogindernagar in Mandi district was wettest in the region with 101 mm of rains, while Baijnath received 48 mm showers, followed by Palampur 45 mm, Bajaura 31 mm, Bhuntar 17 mm, Kasol, Tissa and Rajgarh 5 mm each.
The rains increased humidity and lower hills witnessed rising mercury with Una recording 40.4 degree Celsius temperature, followed by Bhunter 35 degrees, Sundernagar 34.9 degrees, Nahan 32.3 degrees, Solan 30 degrees, Dharamshala 27.8 degrees, Kalpa 26.8 degrees and Shimla 26.2 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperatures were four to ten degrees above normal with Una recording a low of 28 degrees, eight degrees above normal, while Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperature at 16.6 degree, 10 degrees above normal.
Sundernagar recorded minimum temperature at 25.1 degree, 9 notches above normal, while Shimla recorded a low of 20 degrees, five degrees above normal and Keylong 15.4 degree, six degrees above normal.
The maximum temperature touched 29 degrees in Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district, accelerating the melting of snow which resulted in sharp increase in discharge of water in rivulets and tributaries of snow-fed rivers.
Meanwhile, the local MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers at many places in lower, mid and higher hills during next five days and warned of heavy rains at isolated places from June 12 to June 14.
