Heavy rains trigger landslides in HP

All the rivers, their tributaries and rivulets are in spate and people living along the banks of the rivers and khuds have been asked to move to safer places in view of threat of flash floods.

As heavy rains lashed several parts of the state, a three-storey under construction building collapsed at Solan while traffic remained blocked for more than six hours on Cart Road in Shimla.

Dharampur and Solan in Solan districts recorded 107 mm and 77 mm of rains while Paonta Sahib, Nahan and Renuka in Yamuna catchment area received 60 mm, 58 mm and 57 mm of rains, triggering landslides in interior areas.

Mehre in Hamirpur district had 52 mm of rains while Rajgarh and Berthin recorded 50 mm and 47 mm of rains, followed by Nadaun and Kufri 40 mm each, Baldwara and Sangrah 39 mm, Kandaghat 38 mm, Dharamsala 32.6 mm, Jubbar Hatti, Kotkhai, Ghumarwin, Nurpur and Jhundutta 30 mm and Shimla 28.8 mm.

Mercury remained steady in the state and Una was hottest with maximum and minimum temperatures at 36.0 degree and 25.3 degree Celsius respectively.

Bhuntar recorded a high of 34.2 degree, followed by Sundernagar 32.5 degree, Dharamshala 31.6 Degree, Nahan 30.5 degree, Solan 28.5 degree and Shimla 22.4 degree.

The MeT office has forcast widespread rains in the region during the next 48 hours with very heavy rains at isolated places.
