Help widow of Ashok Chakra awardee: Def Min to Karnataka govt

The Defence Ministry today said it has asked Karnataka government to provide expeditious assistance to the widow of an Ashok Chakra awardee Army officer.
"The government has taken cognizance of the issue of allotment of land by the Karnataka state government to the widow of Col V Vasanth, an Ashok Chakra Award winner (posthumous) for exceptional gallantry. The Ex-Servicemen's Welfare department has taken up the issue with the state to provide expeditious assistance and resolve the pending matter at the earliest," a Defence Ministry release said.
The widow of the army officer has demanded that she be given land given to Ashok Chakra awardees as per the policy of the state government.

"The local army formation has also been requested to follow up with the state government to ensure a speedy redressal of the grievance," the Ministry said.
