AICC general secretary and in-charge of state affairs, Madhusudan Mistry today exhorted partymen to highlight the failures of central and state governments before the people in a forceful manner through party's 'rail roko, highway jam karo' agitation planned for March 12.
"The Narendra Modi led government has failed on all fronts... They have not been able to fulfil the promises made by them in the elections... Similarly corruption is at its peak in the state," Mistry said at a meeting of district and city unit presidents.
"The land acquisition law brought by the previous UPA government is being changed to serve the interests of capitalists... In the state, corruption cases against ministers are being probed by the Lokayukta... Crime especially against women is on the rise," he said, adding that all these problmes have to be highlighted in a forceful manner to apprise the people about them through the agitation planned for March 12.
Mistry and UPCC president Nirmal Khatri, who was also present in the meeting, reviewed the ongoing membership drive and enquired about the preparation for the agitation from the leaders.
The two leaders also discussed the prevailing political situation in the state.
The state unit of Congress has decided to hold protests all over the state by stalling rail and road traffic on March 12 against the anti-people policies of the central government and the dismal law and order under the Samajwadi Party government.
