The state health and family welfare department is geared up to tackle the spread of dengue and no death from the disease has been reported from any part of Himachal Pradesh so far, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur today said.
"The state government is taking effective steps to prevent spread of dengue in various parts of the state and the health department has made elaborate arrangements to tackle this disease. So far no death had been reported from any part of the state," Singh said while presiding over a meeting of officers of health department, pollution control board and other concerned departments.
He said that blood samples of 2,621 people had been tested so far of which 401 had been found positive for dengue. Of these, 265 were in Solan district alone with most migrant labourers from Parwanoo, Baddi, Barotiwala and Nalagarh areas being the patients in most cases.
He said that the government was providing free of cost medical checkup facility in dengue cases and free medicines were being distributed.
The health department was also providing fogging machines to the local urban bodies free of cost for fumigation in their respective areas, he said.
Thakur directed the Solan district administration to constitute teams comprising SDM, tehsildar and naib tehsildar for intensive inspection of affected areas.
The state government has already notified Himachal Pradesh Dengue Control Regulation, 2017 and provision of fine has been made against contravening any provision of the regulation.
The minister directed the secretary of the pollution control board to ensure proper treatment of effluents from the industrial units, besides inspections of these units.
He said the health department had issued an advisory to check the spread of dengue.
