"A probe by High Court judge as demanded by the BJP or former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal may not serve the purpose and the criminal aspect of the sordid act may not be investigated and only a SIT can bare the truth and expose the political dimensions of phone tapping," HLP President Maheshwar Singh said.
Maheshwar, who led the party delegation to CM Virbhadra Singh, said the alleged phone tapping was a serious offence and Dhumal, who was also heading the Home ministry then, cannot absolve himself from the responsibility of illegal and undemocratic act of phone tapping.
